Engineering ApS supplies proof calculations and documentation, load modelling
etc. e.g. using recognized aeroelastic computer models and finite element
analysis.
Some of our areas of expertise are:
Calculation of Wind Turbine foundations.
Aeroelastic modelling and loads (IEC 61400-1):
- Fatigue calculations.
- Simulation of operating conditions (brake, cut-in etc.).
- Extreme loads.
Finite element analysis:
- Stresses and deformations.
- Stress concentration factors.
- Natural frequencies.
Calculation of sub-elements of Wind Turbines:
- Bolt joints, pre-stressing and stiffness ratio.
- Buckling.
- Foundations.
As expertise both on load measurements and on load calculations is present
in the TRIPOD Group, an important speciality is comparison and verification of
calculated and measured loads used in connection with certification and/or
calibration of load modelling codes. As an independent consultant
serving the entire wind energy industry, the TRIPOD group is not involved in
the design of wind turbines. However, TRIPOD Engineering ApS assists the
manufacturers in assessing their design of wind turbines and sub-elements with
respect to strength, lifetime, dynamic behaviour etc. Tripod Engineering
ApS is thoroughly familiar with the Danish approval system for wind turbines
and international standards for wind turbine loads. Furthermore, One of our
engineers is appointed by the Danish Ministry of Energy to issue approvals for
Wind Turbines in the household range.
